ARA Indigenous Services/CMC
Michael is an accomplished AFL player with a career spanning 20 years. Michael has played 303 senior AFL games for the Sydney Swans and in 1998 Michael was awarded the club’s best and fairest player. Michael was twice All-Australian and represented Australia in International Rules.
In 2005 Michael was part of the premiership winning team he was also inducted into the Indigenous Team of the Century.
After retiring from the AFL, Michael was the Head Coach of the AIS-AFL Academy, coached the Indigenous All-Stars team and was the Head Coach of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy. In 2015, Michael was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame.
In 2016 Michael has embarked in the next chapter of his career as Managing Director and Founder of CMC Indigenous Services, a newly formed company that specialises in cleaning and property maintenance services.
In May 2017, CMC Indigenous Services was acquired by the ARA Group. Now known as ARA Indigenous Services/CMC, ARA Indigenous Services offers a diverse range of industrial services through the ARA Group and guides and mentors all of ARA’s divisions to meet engagement and employment objectives with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Communities.
As the Managing Director, Michael draws upon his life experiences as a leader and mentor in the Indigenous Community to encourage and support Indigenous education, engagement, employment and opportunity.
Under Michael’s guidance and leadership, ARA Indigenous Services will be at the forefront of Indigenous education, support and engagement in the facilities and infrastructure industries.
Michael has also made a significant philanthropic contribution to the football and Indigenous communities through his affiliations with various Sydney Swans community initiatives, Indigenous literacy and numeracy programs, the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy, the AFL Indigenous Academy and as co-founder of the GO Foundation.
